Similar Picture Find could not possibly have a more descriptive name. This program lets you create picture repositories and find duplicate pictures in them. This feature will specially come in handy when you need to recover disk space or organize your images.
Although this program’s interface is not difficult to use, I think the whole operation could have been made much easier if the developers had considered using a wizard, at least as an alternative way. However, everything will turn out simpler once you understand the concept of “repository”, which refers to a collection or library. So the first step will be to create a repository by selecting the folder that contains the intended images. During the scanning process, this application will apply comparison algorithms to find similar pictures. This means that instead of checking file size or date, the program actually “sees” the pictures.
Once the program has scanned the chosen folder, it will show a list of the images in the repository to which you can perform different operations. The file operations available are previewing the image, deleting the file, opening the file and opening the file’s location. To help you take decisions, you may apply a filter to the list so that only duplicate files are shown. Another filter will show damaged files only. Two buttons will help you carry out batch operations, such as delete all similar images or delete all damaged images.
